Overnight Traffic Stops on Route 17 Business (Warrenton Road) in Stafford on Thursday, Oct. 15-Friday, Oct. 16
Warrenton Road traffic will be stopped intermittently for 15-minute intervals near Lendall Lane between 10 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, and 5 a.m. Friday, Oct. 16
FREDERICKSBURG – All Route 17 Business (Warrenton Road) traffic in Stafford County will be briefly stopped several times between 10 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, and 5 a.m. Friday, Oct. 16, for Dominion Energy utility work under permit.
Traffic will be stopped east of Interstate 95, near the intersection with Lendall Lane and Solomon Drive. Each traffic stop will last approximately 15 minutes.
Virginia State Police will assist with traffic control.
Dominion Energy crews are stopping traffic to install netting over the Warrenton Road travel lanes. This netting will allow utility work to proceed 24 hours a day without traffic stops or lane closures at most times. The netting has a vertical clearance of 21 feet over the road, which meets Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) requirements to accommodate all vehicle heights.
The traffic stops have been scheduled to occur weather permitting. If work is canceled for Thursday evening, the traffic stops will be rescheduled to occur between 10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, and 5 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 17.
Updated information on traffic stops for this work zone will be available on 511 Virginia at 511.vdot.virginia.gov.
